Nico Segal, formerly known by his stage name Donnie Trumpet, plays trumpet and produces for The JuJu Exchange. He is from the North Side of Chicago. Nico is part of the hip-hop collective Savemoney with Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa, among others. In addition to The JuJu Exchange, Nico performs in the band The Social Experiment. In 2019 he released a new project, Intlxl, in collaboration with Nate Fox. Nico has won a Grammy for his work with Chance the Rapper on the mixtape Coloring Book.
Julian Reid, the biological brother of Everett, plays piano & keyboards and produces for The JuJu Exchange. Julian is from the South Side of Chicago. In addition to the band, he freelances around Atlanta as a jazz pianist and is an assistant music director at Kelley Chapel United Methodist Church in the greater Atlanta area. He holds a Master’s of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory University and a Bachelor's in philosophy from Yale University. He writes theological curriculum for churches and also writes on the social and theological implications of music for various websites, including Talkhouse.com. He and his wife Carmen reside in Atlanta
Everett Reid plays drums, Nova Portals (an original creation), and produces for The JuJu Exchange. He is from the South Side of Chicago. Everett moved to Detroit after graduating from University of Michigan’s School of Music in 2018 where he got two degrees in Jazz Studies and Performing Arts Technology. He’s currently in a critical stage of artistic realization as he’s busy performing around Detroit and Chicago, producing and writing music with his band The JuJu Exchange and other artists, as well as developing and documenting an instrument he invented in school, the Nova Portals (an instrument you don’t need to physically touch to make sound).
